I will be offline for at least a couple of weeks, maybe more... Opportunities to sketch, hopefully :)

Back in 2001, I remember being knocked down by the sketchbooks of James Jean. The man wasn't the star he is now, no Eisner Awards, not even his own table at the Comic Con 2003, while i was kindly allowed to browse through his great sketchbooks...Thanks for the inspiration, James.
J's website is here ( Sketchbooks/Vienna ), his blog over here.

In 2003, to escape from the digital tools, I started drawing again, and that was nude drawings. Back to basics.

In October 2004, already two years ago, I tried gesture drawings at a martial art event. The firsts of many gestures to come.

Early in 2005, I met Daisuke Tsutsumi in Paris, and we ended up in the Louvres, he was sketching, I wasn't. Another inspirational moment. Dice's great oil paint studies are here.

By March 2005, I started to carry sketchbooks all the time with me, and started to sketch more and more regularly.

August 2005: I opened this blog, parvo beati, as a side project of my site ... drawings and paintings strictly done from life.

October 2006:Looking back at it, after a full year, and a few posts of black and white studies/gestures, the whole thing ( The practise and the feedback to it ) has been a very pleasant trip. Thanks!

While i'm away, you can follow Simon's sketches and paintings in the collective blog"Insert name Here" :)
